Brief Bio: Hilary oversees policy development on technology and future mobility issues, including regulation of connected and automated vehicles, data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications. Prior to joining Auto Innovators, Hilary spent nearly 8 years as Director of Technology and Innovation Policy at Toyota and almost a decade working in the U.S. House of Representatives. She holds a J.D. and a M.A. in Public Affairs from the University of Texas and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington. In June of 2020, Hilary was recognized as a Rising Star in the automotive industry by Automotive News for her work at the forefront of emerging technology policy.

Topic: Data Policy and the Future of Mobility

Abstract: Policymakers at the federal and state level are increasingly interested in and focused on data. In recent years, there has been a significant uptick in legislative and regulatory efforts in areas such as consumer privacy, data portability, artificial intelligence, and biometrics that could have wide-ranging implications for the auto industry and the future of mobility. We’ll examine the current data policy landscape and discuss the potential impacts on emerging automotive technologies.
